The
Friends are engaged in a range of projects associated with the
collections in the Ludlow Town Museum and Shropshire Museums
Resource Centre. These may be considered in the following
categories:
Acquisitions: We
have commissioned purchase of prints and conservation of
paintings as well as of specimens in the various
collections.
Buildings: We
supported design and construction of the purpose-built,
environmentally controlled, Resource Centre in Ludlow for
the Shropshire Museums service of Shropshire Council,
raising a substantial sum from private and company
donations.
Cataloguing: We
provide financial support to educational projects for school
children both at the Museum and in their school
Conservation: Recognising
damage and undertaking remedial measures to preserve the
collections for the future.
Digitisation: We
support research by individuals, by academic institutions,
and ensuring their endeavours are properly recorded and made
available to enhance our understanding of Shropshire and its
heritage. This includes a substantial grant awarded in 2015
for the digitisation of the geological collections.Click here for further
details.
Fund Raising: We
provide financial support to educational projects for school
children both at the Museum and in their schools, and assist
Shropshire Council Museums Service with their endeavours to
raise funding for their work.
